The Spirit of an American Racing Icon

As we think of Carroll Shelby, we remember a man that was bigger than life! He didn't just want to win a race or two against Ferrari, he certainly didn't just want to win Le Mans or Daytona, and/or a World Championship. He simply wanted to smoke the competition, and in the interim, rise above it all!

Ambition & Winning in Motor Racing

One of the special talents Carroll Shelby has had, much less talked about, were his instincts of who to talk to, and when, how to recruit the best of race car drivers, mechanics, or even on how to partner with complete racing teams! His ambitions for winning had no boundaries. Competing nationally and internationally, racing against the best of the best, was his main focus in the legendary motor racing career he has had!

Motor Racing as a Matter of Style

From the Cobra 260/289, to the Daytona Coupe, to the Ford GT40s, to the Cobra 427, there was no denying that the Shelby Cobra & GT40 cars were potent and beautiful machines! This said, Carroll Shelby and his company, Shelby American Inc., also knew how to go to races with style! The Shelby Race Car Transporters showcased were extensively used nationally. From 1964 through 1966, one could see these beautiful transporters adorn the pad and paddock of various racing tracks like at Daytona Beach, in Sebring, Riverside, and more!

Our Friend Dave Friedman

As soon as Dave Friedman, a notable photojournalist on Shelby American and author of many books on the subject, saw this new Exoto model, he said that a red transporter had also existed - in 1962. Possibly a Wimbledon-white one too - which carried the famous GT 350 Mustangs. As we continue our search for further historic documentation, we will bring you more variations of these Historic and venerable Shelby American Race Car Transporters!

Introducing the latest additions to the Exoto 43 Inside The Paddock Collection. Designed and crafted to traditional high-end Exoto manufacturing principles, only the finest noble materials were specified during the development process: genuine wood plinths for the flat bed, aluminum and stainless steel machined parts for the ramps and hydraulic jacks, rubber-like COBRA monogrammed mud flaps, simulated rivets, authentic period racing livery, and much more. One can even see the legendary company's address on the doors of these transporters -- just like the real thing, only smaller! Racing Cars are included where specified, or shown!
